Squeeze the juice from the lemon over the smashed avocado. Watch for lemon seeds that may end up in the bowl. If you squeeze the lemon over a tea strainer, the strainer will catch any seeds.
Add the cilantro, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed and smooth.
