- 2 lbs Granny Smith apples
- 2 Tbsp ghee
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/8 tsp Himalayan salt
- 1/4 cup water

Instructions
- Cut the cores out of the apples. Chop the apples into 1-inch pieces, and place in the cooking pot.
- Add the ghee, vanilla powder, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt. Stir until the apples are evenly coated.
- Add the water to the cooking pot.
- Put the lid of the cooking pot. Cook on high for 3 hours.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a blender. Blend until smooth. CAUTION when blending hot foods. Keep the hole in the blender lid slightly open to prevent a vacuum seal.
- Transfer the blended apples back to the cooking pot.
- Put the lid on the cooking pot at a slight angle to allow moisture to escape. Cook on low for 6 hours. Stir every 2 hours.

Notes:
This recipe was developed using a Crock Pot 6-quart slow cooker with stove-top browning. An equal amount of pure vanilla extract can be substituted for vanilla powder. If you’re using vanilla extract, add it to the wet ingredients.
